“I’m in command here, Perceptor!” (J/K… inside joke, not part of my story.)
I’ve been a Transformers fan/collector since 1984. I still have my childhood collection, never stopped collecting, and to this day still collect Generation One (G1) and Masterpiece.
But back in 1991, TFs went away. When they came back in 1993 with Generation Two (G2), I was so thrilled, I wanted to try out with art for the book. I made my own page — a textless sample from my fanfic ideas for a G1 cartoon continuity book — but then never submitted it. I’m a rural/suburban kind of guy, and never wanted to live in a city, let alone one of the biggest and busiest cities in the world. I think that’s perhaps the biggest reason why I never submitted any of my art, although rejection was also a fear (back then, I didn’t deal with it very well — but in adulthood, most of the things that bothered me then wouldn’t now). Nowadays, I’m sure a lot of it is satellite, send over the internet stuff.
Maybe I’ll go ahead and make what I always wanted to — a fanfic comic connected to G1 cartoon continuity. I figure why not? Well… the time and energy involved AND the fact that there’s already so much fanfic out there already are probably my two biggest reasons why I haven’t. Maybe someday….
