Reminder folks: Photobucket sucks.
G.I. Moe – a Real American Dodo!
I grew up LOVING G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero. What red-blooded American boy (well, and the rest of the world as “Action Force” among other names) that grew up in the 1980’s didn’t like GI Joe?
Loved the cartoon and animated movie, loved the toys, and loved the comic book, as I also did with its lil’ brother franchise, Transformers. Still collect them all in my adulthood. Here was me being an immature 14-year-old goofin’ on something I love with a silly parody.
Now, as I said, the Joe franchise influenced me greatly in many ways, as the cartoon influenced my art style, but the Joe comics hold a particular fondness for me, because writer Larry Hama’s writing style influenced my own writing style as well. He’s also a pretty damn good artist on top of one of my favorite writers. Love his style of storytelling.
Not that one could tell with these early comics… as they were just immature childish fun. But the underlying story threads weaved through years of the action, and particularly with my graphic novel.
