Greetings! ChrusherComix<\/em> — portmanteau of Chris’ Crusher Comics<\/em>, the original title of the comic from 1988-2000 — is an ongoing comic book and interconnecting graphic novel created, written, and illustrated by Christopher Galletta Stevens. The comic was initially an unpublished “sketchbook with a storyline’ that began in 1988 when the author was a 14-year-old high school freshman, and mostly done in high school study halls (often instead of homework). At first, an unpublished comic book passed around at school to simultaneously published strips in the local newspapers that promptly won several high-ranking awards. It is now published online, over 1,000 pages of “Classics<\/em>“, or the brand-new “End Cycle<\/em>” graphic novel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1988, an Oswego High School freshman named Chris Stevens decided to take his talent of drawing and entertain himself and his friends by drawing a sketchbook-with-a-storyline featuring character-driven comedy and violence. It became a hit. This whole website is devoted to the ongoing series that started as sketches on lined paper and evolved into the sophisticated professional artwork you see today. In the late 1980s at an everyday high school in Oswegonia, a war is brewing between a band of nerds and misfits known as The Welforce, inept and corrupt school faculty, low-level criminal masterminds, and a band of teen quasi-vigilantes known as The Conquerors – led by a lad known as Chris Crusher – or Chrusher for short. Starting in 1988 when 14-year-old Christopher Galletta Stevens drew a comic book in high school study hall to entertain himself and his friends. The book continued ever since, and — after never seeing print and being in storage for two decades — has now finally seen publication! In a series of comics lost when a “friend” took umbrage to a few of the jokes and kidnapped, ripped-up, and threw three months of comics away. This was an incomplete reconstruction (and some retconning) of said issues. In the three issues lost, Chrusher was electrocuted by neighbor and eccentric wanna’ be Conqueror, Robert “Roboman” Reegun. But was he really dead? Chrusher’s girlfriend SabreSam found that he was nearly comatose, but alive, and awaking with amnesia. She took him away from everyone in order to hide from The Mare, Chrusher’s mom that did not approve of their relationship. While he was gone, The Conquerors followed Chrusher’s instructions, a WWF\/E\/MMA-esque battle royale at Fort Crusher to decide who would lead the Conquerors was to take place. While the favorite to win Jamin “Powerhouse” Williamson looked poised to win the battle and become new Conqueror Commander, when the treacherous RaYzor “The Hitman” Cadildo came out of the woodwork after hiding the entire match to snuck up from behind to give Jamin a back brain kick for the win! Classics: Year Three & Four<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The 3rd season of Chris’ Crusher Comics (portmanteau is ChrusherComix) began a far more grittier storyline with somewhat more edgy artwork (and far more detail). The greatest growth in art quality is seen between the 1st and 3rd year of my comics, all seen here on this website. Even so, typos (well, misspellings, as I hand-wrote all the text) are often seen, as well as MANY pencil smudges. My high school art teacher – a talented painter whom I greatly respected – appreciated my pencil work, but suggested to me to ink my work to preserve it, to which I did in the following season, 1992. I defy you to find a crazier, sicker, stupider-looking comic book villain ANYWHERE! Hosted on ComicGenesis, it contains around 95-98% of the comic (minus the newer stuff that I’ve done in the past year or so). The comic starts as a character-driven slapstick comedy, then slowly transforms into an action-adventure book with some of the juvenile comedy throughout, and finally into more serious fare – a thriller with mature dramatic elements (and better artwork). The entire story is separated into three major volumes, which are all interrelated but not interdependent. Volume One covers the story of the characters in high school, the second volume covers them in exploits after high school. These initial two volumes were never intended for mass consumption (just friends and family), but were uploaded online in 2005-06 and can be enjoyed anyways.
